My Fine Art Film Photography practice is both inevitably and intentionally a slow process. Simply the act of taking a photograph with a film camera is slower than doing the same with a digital camera. And even slower depending on which format of camera I use.
I use my beloved Medium and Large format cameras. They are things of beauty in themselves so I am more than happy to spend longer tie with them.
Processing the film is a slower pace too - measuring, timing, washing, drying. I always scan my negatives for ease and that process together with any darkroom time - whether making silver prints or cyanotype prints is also slow. I process all my own film - both colour and black and white, producing colour prints as C type prints.
Because of this slow practice, it feels right to release my prints periodically. Maybe a small release each season.
